Abstract

ABSTRACT

Plastic waste issues in the school environment have become a crucial concern that requires solutions based on education and active student participation. This activity aims to increase the awareness and skills of students at SMP Dreiwanti Bekasi in managing plastic waste through the strengthening of environmental care character. The activity was conducted in five sessions, including socialization, waste sorting education, practical training on making flower pots from used plastic bottles, as well as entrepreneurship training and evaluation. A total of 30 students from grades 7 and 8 were actively involved throughout the program, which took place from March to May 2024. The results show excellent achievement, with an average score of 75-81 in both theoretical understanding and practical skills. The students demonstrated high enthusiasm and were able to apply the principles of reuse and recycle independently, which proved effective in reducing the volume of plastic waste while creating innovative, useful products. It is suggested that the school establish a sustainable environmental community and provide adequate waste sorting facilities to support the habituation of environmental care character. Innovation in recycled products should be continuously developed so that the economic potential of plastic waste can be optimized, ensuring that this activity provides a long-term impact on school cleanliness and student independence.
